Frequently Asked Questions

Answering all your professional roofing questions.

Unless it’s a very minor repair or you are properly trained to complete a roof repair, we highly recommend calling a local exterior company such as CHS! Roofing is a crucial trade and if not fixed correctly, a small repair can cause further, lingering interior issues.

The cost of fixing or replacing a roof can vary anywhere from $250-$30,000+ depending on size, difficulty, required materials, etc. Obviously, that is an extreme range! That’s why we provide free estimates and inspections to all of our customers.

Understandably, this is a question/concern of nearly every homeowner we meet. The cost from a roof repair to replacement can increase thousands of dollars. Our job is to ease your minds! That’s why we offer next day inspections free of cost and can have an estimate back in your hands within 24 hours.

Depending on the size and difficulty, a roof repair can take anywhere from one hour to one day’s worth of work. Our sales representatives are properly trained to communicate a reasonable timeframe to customers before starting a repair.

We recommend every homeowner to get at least 3 estimates! Why would we as a contractor want a homeowner to collect more estimates than just ours? We are highly confident that our quality of work, customer service, and pricing at Creative Home Solutions cannot be beat. We also provide our customers a “Contractor Comparison Worksheet” that has a list of questions we feel are important to ask all contractors.

If you have a leak in your brand new roofing system, immediately call the contractor that replaced your roof. Roofing contractors should provide a minimum of a 2-year workmanship warranty that covers any installation errors from the original installation. This is a great example of a question homeowners should be asking when collecting estimates.

Many homeowners are unaware that most roofing damage is not visible from the ground! Hail dents, nail pops, cracking, etc. are small in size, but fall under crucial damage when it comes to a roof. Some things that homeowners should be on the look out for from the ground are missing shingles, damaged flashings, and of course leaks.

It’s common for shingle manufacturers to provide warranties that vary from 15-50 years. This does not mean that your roofing system is going to last 50 years! We highly recommend having annual or bi-annual roofing “health visits”.

Regular roof inspections are recommended at least once a year, preferably in the spring or fall, to identify any potential issues early on and prevent costly repairs. However, it’s also important to have your roof inspected after severe weather events, such as storms or heavy winds.

The lifespan of a roof depends on various factors, including the material used, quality of installation, climate, and maintenance. Generally, asphalt shingle roofs last around 20 to 30 years, while metal, tile, or slate roofs can last significantly longer, ranging from 50 to over 100 years with proper care.

The lifespan of siding varies based on the material. However, signs such as cracking, warping, rot, or significant fading may indicate that it’s time for a replacement. Additionally, if you notice recurring issues with moisture or insulation, it’s advisable to consult a professional to assess the condition of your siding.

Regular maintenance is crucial to ensure the longevity and performance of your roof and siding. This includes clearing debris, keeping gutters clean, inspecting for damage, and addressing any issues promptly. It’s also beneficial to have professional inspections and maintenance done periodically to identify potential problems early on.
